Mr Simon Woodhams

Mr Simon David Woodhams is a Consultant Urologist with interests in general urology, urological oncology and surgery for benign prostate enlargement. His clinical interests include prostate and bladder cancer, robotic cystectomy, prostatectomy for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), including TURis, vasectomy reversal and day surgery. He also has interests in prostate and kidney problems, recurrent urinary tract infections and other core urology.

Mr Woodhams studied medicine at St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School before completing higher surgical training through Guy’s Hospital. He was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in 2000 and subsequently spent a fellowship year in Brisbane, Australia, developing his interests in urological cancer surgery.

His experience in urological cancer surgery includes radical prostatectomy, cystectomy and robotic cystectomy. He has also offered Greenlight Laser Prostatectomy and Holmium Laser Prostatectomy and, in more recent years, has favoured TURis bipolar prostate resection. His expertise in TURis prostatectomy has led to presentations at national urological meetings, and he teaches prostatectomy to junior surgeons at Royal College of Surgeons courses.

Mr Woodhams is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the British Association of Urological Surgeons and the HIFU Users Group. He is also on the teaching faculty for the Royal College of Surgeons.
