About Mr Simon Mackie

Mr Simon Mackie is a Consultant Urological Surgeon providing services for general urology, endourology and renal stones, male and female lower urinary tract symptoms at Benenden Hospital.

Mr Simon Mackie studied medicine at University College London and entered service with the Royal Navy. After a period of general medical duties, he specialised in urology, undertaking an MSc in Urology as well as an MD in Biomedical Sciences, completing a thesis on chemotherapy agents for urological cancers.

During specialist training, he undertook a two-year fellowship in minimal access surgery and renal stone disease in Edinburgh and Sydney, following which he was appointed as Consultant Urological Surgeon to the Defence Medical Services in Portsmouth. In 2015, he retired from full-time military service to take up an NHS post in East Sussex and has developed a general urological service with a sub-specialist interest in minimal access surgery for renal stone disease.
