Mr Samir N F Massoud

Mr Samir N. F. Massoud has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Shoulder Surgeon at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham, since 2003. He specialises in rotator cuff surgery, shoulder replacement, shoulder stabilisation, frozen shoulder surgery, acromioclavicular joint reconstruction, and the management of shoulder fractures, including complex revision procedures. Over the course of his consultant career, he has performed approximately 100 shoulder replacements, 300 cuff repairs, and 400 shoulder arthroscopies annually.

Mr Massoud studied medicine at Alexandria University, Egypt (1980–1986), before moving to the UK in 1989. He obtained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1993 and completed the Nottingham Higher Surgical Orthopaedic Training Scheme, achieving the FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) in 1999. He undertook a fellowship at the Reading Shoulder Unit in 2000 and further training at the Nottingham Shoulder and Elbow Unit.

He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Elbow & Shoulder Society. Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Massoud contributes to surgical training, peer reviews orthopaedic publications, lectures nationally and internationally, and teaches advanced arthroscopy courses.
