Ryan Marcovich is the Director of Mental Health and Wellbeing at Patterns of the Mind and a partner at City and West Psychology, a leading team of London Psychologists and Psychotherapists with their main clinic in Liverpool Street (Central London) but also Clapham (West London).

Qualified in Rational-Emotive Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (RE-CBT), he is viewed as an effective integrative therapist with extensive experience working with anxiety disorders, depression & low mood, emotional distress, trauma, self-esteem & personal growth, relationship problems and painful life events. Ryan's integrative approach to therapy, uses a core framework of RE-CBT, incorporating Psychodynamic and Counselling interventions, providing a tailored service to meet each client's different needs. Alongside his clinics, Ryan is able to offer expert reports for clients needing evidence of their mental health that may pertain to legal issues they are involved in.

Ryan is also lead psychotherapist for the IBA Development Team. Working in close partnership with Birmingham City University, he has helped build a novel, sophisticated and holistic approach to understanding human behaviour called Intelligent Behaviour Analytics (IBA). Taught at MSc level, the IBA framework enables individuals to explore their Concept of Self in a meaningful way which is unique to them.

Ryan began his work experience within this sector in 1997, which included specialist needs, addictions and asylum services. Later, he set up his private practice with a team of other mental health experts and worked within Primary Care Psychology services within the NHS until 2023.

He is qualified with an undergraduate degree in Psychology, a Certificate in Counselling skills, and a Masters' degree in Rational Emotive Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (RE-CBT). He is a final year trainee Counselling Psychologist, holding dual accreditation with the BABCP & AREBT, is a member the British Psychological Society and abides by the BPS & HCPC code of ethics.

I had been very reticent about consulting a therapist imagining a set of categories from which a label/diagnosis would be applied to my issues that I would not feel reflected a true understanding of my situation. Ryan Marcovich dispelled all these assumptions and proved to be extremely insightful and analytical to my specific trauma and stresses; he has provided me with illuminating insight, and approaches for understanding my problems including the tools to cope with and overcome negative thoughts and I have resumed a positive and productive lifestyle free of anxiety.

I came to Ryan dealing with intense anxiety, dissociation, and OCD, and he has genuinely helped me work through all of it. From our very first conversation, he made me feel comfortable and at ease. He has such a warm and kind presence. What stands out most is how logically and clearly he approaches things. Even when I come in feeling scattered or end up rambling through my emotions, he always finds a way to help me sort through the mess and make sense of what I’m feeling. I’ve come away from every session feeling more grounded than when I walked in. I’d recommend him to anyone looking for a therapist who is both deeply compassionate and genuinely skilled at helping you untangle difficult emotions.

I’ve seen a few therapists before Ryan, and the difference was how well he stuck to what we’d actually agreed on during the introductory session. We started with CBT from session one, and he kept us anchored to that the whole way through instead of wandering off into whatever felt interesting that week- an experience I had with my former therapist. He also took the time early on to build real trust, which made a big difference. I didn’t feel like I had to perform or say the “right” things. He let me get to my own conclusions instead of pushing me toward his. Honestly, I’d recommend him to anyone who wants a therapist who’s organised but still feels human about it. You can vent and he turns it into something you can reflect on, follow and generate some real output!

10/10 Ryan is extremely kind and understanding, I cannot recommend enough. He has helped me to understand my anxiety, worry and how my brain works and how to break old habits. Very grateful, thank you.

I’ve just finished my recent sessions with Ryan and it’s quite hard to put into words how much it has meant to me, and has changed my understanding of myself and human behaviour. I always like having an explanation for many things in life, CBT has been amazing at giving me more clarity to many situations I didn’t understand. I’m so extremely grateful to Ryan for always being so kind and supportive with his teaching and guidance!

Ryan’s a really genuine guy and he clearly cares and works hard for his patients, I don’t think I solved anxiety problem entirely (you likely never do) but I definitely made good improvement over the time speaking to Ryan.
