Mr Hargrove performed my hip replacement. He did a brilliant job, he took great care to avoid any potential problems, I had very little pain after the first few days and I believe I have his expertise to thank for my easy recovery.

My name is Adrian S*****, a 67 year-old man from Farnham, Surrey. I consulted Richard Hargrove in April 2025 in regards to a long-standing painful right knee, which had blighted my daily life for too many years. Following same day x-rays and an MRI scan, Richard swiftly diagnosed severe arthritis in all three knee compartments for which the only long-term solution was total knee replacement surgery. He explained in clear and simple terms what the problem was, how the situation would deteriorate if not addressed and was very positive about the medical outcome, likely benefits to my health, wellbeing and pain-free future lifestyle. Richard was also clear from the outset that he would not undertake surgery until I addressed my (then) excess weight and fitness issues, as these were critical to any successful knee replacement surgery. Over the ensuing months I embarked on a healthy eating regimen and ‘prehab’ fitness regime - swimming, gym’ing and stepping - throughout which Richard encouraged and monitored my commitment, progress and crucially results. Having finally achieved all of Richard’s weight and fitness targets, he arranged all matters pertaining to my surgery - admittance, pre and post-surgery instructions, advice and guidance and maintained excellent communications both oral and written, such that at no time was I in any doubt as to what was going to happen, where, when and by whom; it was very reassuring. Mr Hargrove performed a total hip replacement surgery for me in March 2026. The operation was an unqualified success & I whole heartedly leave this review knowing that I couldn't have selected a better surgeon. He is truly excellent. I am doing more now whilst still recovering than I've done for the last 24+ months because of the joint pain I was in. I also feel 30yrs younger & have been given my life back by this very gifted surgeon. Not once have I had cause to doubt his professionalism or abilities. It doesn't hurt that he has a dry sense of humor & his presence at my bedside before & after surgery re-assured me that I was in the best hands.

Mr Hargrove was very good at explaining the treatment, reasons for it and how it would help. He was also good at the post operative review in answering questions about my new hip.

I felt reassured and full of confidence from the initial meeting onwards. Everything was clearly explained, there was plenty of time and opportunity for me to ask questions. Follow-up after the procedure was thorough and excellent.
