Mr Michael M Sabetai is a consultant Cardiac Surgeon who specialises in various aspects of adult heart surgery. He initially trained in General and Trauma Surgery in the USA before moving to London, where he pursued his PhD studies in Cardiovascular Surgery at the Imperial College School of Medicine. His training in Cardiothoracic Surgery took place at prestigious institutions including Guy's and St Thomas', Royal Brompton, and London Chest Hospitals in London.
To further enhance his expertise, Mr. Sabetai sought additional experience in Aortic Root Surgery and Surgery of the Thoracic Aorta. He trained in two renowned Aortic Surgery centres in the USA, working under the guidance of experts like Dr. Hazim Safi in Texas Medical Center specialising in the surgical management of thoracoabdominal aneurysms, and Dr. Joe Bavaria at the University of Pennsylvania, focusing on aortic root surgery and hybrid approaches to aortic arch surgery, involving both surgery and stenting.
After completing his training in 2011, Mr. Sabetai was appointed as a Consultant Cardiac and Aortic Surgeon at St Thomas' Hospital in 2012. He has a particular interest in surgical procedures related to the thoracic aorta, aortic root, and aortic valve. This includes expertise in minimally invasive keyhole approaches to aortic valve replacement.
Since 2012, Mr. Sabetai has been running a Thoracic Aorta Surveillance Clinic and actively participates as a core member of the Thoracic Aortic Multidisciplinary Team at St Thomas' Hospital.

From the initial consultation to the final one, the experience with Mr Sabetai was excellent. His manner was reassuring and exuded a confidence throughout, from explaining the procedure I was about to experience, being a triple heart bypass which resulted in being a quadruple, the daily visits following the procedure to explain how it had all gone and checking on my wellbeing and monitoring my recovery, to the final consultation to confirm the success of the procedure and that all was well. A very professional surgeon that I would highly recommend.

I was referred to Mr Sabetai for an urgent CABG operation. At our initial consultation, his straightforward, informative, calming, and positive demeanour, allayed all my concerns. His duty of care and professionalism extended to phoning my husband with an update after the operation. His daily visits to LBH, encouragement and motivational chats, have supported me in my full recovery. Additionally his timely written reports have helped in the transition of my ongoing medical care. I would highly recommend Mr Sabetai for his expertise, and his excellent surgical and interpersonal skills.

Mr Sabetai was outstanding from the initial consultation, which was clear, informative and positive. From my first consultation with Mr Sabetai he made me feel relaxed and helped to dismiss my fears on what was going to be a very major heart operation. I couldn't of wished for a better surgeon. I knew exactly what was going to happen and it has all gone to plan. He come to visit me on several evenings, when he had finished surgery, to check on me and see if all was ok. I would highly recommend him to anybody needing heart surgery.

My experience with Mr Sabetai was first class. I found his manner of explaining the operation procedures to be very clear and confidence building. His post operation call to my wife was much appreciated, and contact whilst I was in the recovery ward most reassuring. I have worked with Mr Sabetai for many many years and have been impressed by his professionalism and expertise.
