Mr Michael Hennessy

Mr Michael Hennessy is an experienced and  highly skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and a specialist in foot and ankle surgery.

He has extensive experience in treating a wide range of foot and ankle problems; from ingrowing toenails and bunions to sports injuries in elite athletes and Total Ankle Replacement surgery as well as fractures and the treatment arthritis.

He is the founding member of the Mersey Foot and Ankle Group (MFAG), which aims to improve the quality of foot and ankle care in the North West of England.

Mr Hennessy has spent the past 33 years working in the NHS having received his MB ChB degree from the University of Liverpool in 1989, and was Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon at Wirral Hospitals NHS Trust for 22 years where he was also Clinical Lead for F&A surgery for the past 10 years.  He completed a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the renowned Brisbane Foot and Ankle Clinic in 1999 and at appointment  was one of a  very few fellowship-trained orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeons in the UK.

He continues to practise at the forefront of his speciality and actively involved in education having regularly lectured at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and delivered instructional courses in  foot and ankle surgery.

He has recently left the NHS to dedicate himself to his private practice and his private patients.

Mr Hennessy is passionate about providing high-quality care to his patients, including those who have had previous unsuccessful surgery. He is happy to see patientst (on both an insured and self funding basis) who may be self referred and those referred from GPs and Consultants from all over the UK, including professional sportspeople and athletes following injury.
