About Mr Mark Edmondson
Mr Mark Edmondson is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in small incision hip and joint replacements. He is a fellowship-trained complex trauma surgeon with extensive experience in treating sports injuries and their surgical management. He is also particularly interested in robotic surgery.
Mr Edmondson qualified in 2001 from Guys and St Thomas's hospital. He undertook his higher surgical training in the South East Thames region during which he gained his FRCS. After completing his higher surgical training in Orthopaedics, Mr Edmondson then underwent advanced training in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty (joint replacement) and Tumour Reconstruction in Western Australia. On returning to the UK, he undertook a further year fellowship post in Complex Trauma and Limb Reconstruction at the Major Trauma Centre BSUH, Brighton where he was later appointed as a Consultant.
Mr Edmondson is the Lead Clinician for Hip Fracture Surgery at BSUH which has been highly praised by the CQC for its excellent patient care and outcomes following surgery for fractured hips. He also enjoys a role as a clinical and academic supervisor for trainee doctors.

I cannot rate Mr Edmondson highly enough. Having experienced severe arthritic pain in my left hip for a long time I was fortunate enough to be referred to Mr Edmondson. From my initial consultation to procedure was four months, as an NHS patient. Mr Edmondson thoroughly explained the procedure and was accurate with all the expected outcomes following surgery. Thanks to his amazing skill as a surgeon, I was pain free immediately after surgery. After three weeks I was walking for 2 hours daily, with no pain relief. My recovery has been astonishing and I can honestly say that the surgery has been life changing. I cannot thank him enough for his care and his ability as a surgeon. Without doubt I would highly recommend Mr Edmondson
