Having completed training in vascular surgery in the Yorkshire and Humberside region I was appointed as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and started work there in January 2005. I am clinical director of vascular surgery and have a continuing interest in research and medical education.

I have over 17 years of experience as a vascular consultant looking after patients with arterial and venous disease. I have a clinical interst in vascular access surgery for haemodialysis.

Early in my consultant career I completed training in vascular ultrasound and endovenous techniques for the treatment of varicose veins including sclerotherapy, Radiofrequency and LASER ablation and now have experience of treating over 2000 patients with varicose veins and venous insufficiency.

Qualifications

Having completed my medical degrees at Nottingham University I moved to the North West for my junior doctor years and taught anatomy at Newcastle University. I moved to Leeds for my basic surgical training and to complete my MD research and thesis investigating blood transfusion and the body's response to vascular surgery.

I completed my higher surgical training in Yorkshire and Humberside and was awarded my certificate of completion of surgical training after success in the Intercollegiate Examination in 2004.

I was appointea consultant vascular surgeon at Bradford Royal Infirmary and started work there in January 2005.

After starting work as a consultant I completed postgraduate training in vascular ultrasound and also trained in the use of endovenous treatments for varicose veins, which have been part of my practice since 2008.
