Mr Karan Johal

Mr Karan Johal is a Consultant specialising in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery and has a particular interest in Foot and Ankle conditions. He attended Colchester Royal Grammar School and then completed his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences in which he obtained a First Class degree. Following this, he graduated with an Honours degree from the University of Nottingham. He then completed surgical training through the UCH/Middlesex rotation in London. He also decided to further complete an MSc in Sports Medicine at UCL.

Once he completed his surgical training he completed a fellowship at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, this involved Foot and Ankle surgical reconstruction. More impressively, he was awarded a British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS) fellowship in Switzerland with the renowned Professor Hintermann. Additionally, he was chosen to complete an AO Trauma Surgery Fellowship in Canada.

Mr Johal is now a Consultant at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust at the Lister Hospital, Stevenage and also at the QEII Hospital, Welwyn Garden City. However, he also provides consultations at One Hatfield and Pinehill Hospitals.

He has published several articles and has presented both nationally and internationally. He also enjoys teaching and training aspiring young doctors. He is the Lead for Education in the Orthopaedic department at the University of Cambridge.
