My last visit was a while ago now, but I would say that overall, I was really pleased with my experience of consulting Mr Borrill. He was very skilled, approachable, informative and easy to talk to.
I had a very successful knee replacement. I was in hospital a very short time where my care was excellent. I am now pain free and back to doing all the things I love to do including walking my dog, golfing and even skiing
All of Mr Borrill!s involvement was exemplary. However following my first (left knee) replacement, things went badly wrong at my weekend discharge. Right up to being discharged I had been receiving very strong pain relief & was feeling good. When I was ready to go home no one could find my medication record. I now know that The Spire were still using paper records, kept loose in plastic sleeves! I later remembered a nurse entering my room during the weekend, carrying several patients folders on her arm. Several of these slid from her grip & fell over the floor. I guess that my missing meds sheet had been accidently put into another patients folder. The discharging staff had to make their best guess on what meds to send me home with. At this time I was unaware as to what pain relief meds I should have had. My whole leg turned black & blue from the sole of my foot up to my thigh. I couldn’t bear my left heal to touch my bed & recall hobbling around my bed on crutches for forty minutes all the time just wanting to lay down & sleep. Next day my friend drove me to my GP’s. A doctor saw me & tried to help by prescribing co-co- codamol. By the Tuesday I don’t recall ever feeling so ill in my life. I phoned the nurses at The Spire where I was asked if I could get back to see them. My husband took me back immediately & I spent 4hrs having numerous checks, tests & scans. Nothing identified. A Suster & nurse searched my folder for my meds sheet. Nothing found. It was lost before my discharge! I did tell them this but of course that didn’t help them. They too had to resort to best gu...
