Mr Jonathan Bernstein is a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon based in London. Mr Bernstein is based at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust where he is also an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer. He also sees private patients Cromwell Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital and Wellington Hospital. His goal is to provide a thorough, modern and high-quality practice, creating a positive patient experience.
He obtained his medical degree in 2002 at the University of Bristol and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of London in 2010. He completed his specialist ENT training in Manchester and also his Research Doctorate at the University of Manchester in 2013. He then moved to Toronto to complete a 3-year advanced clinical and surgical training fellowship in head & neck surgical oncology, reconstructive microsurgery and thyroid/parathyroid surgery at the renowned Mount Sinai Hospital and the University Health Network.
In his current posts, he specialises in head & neck oncology surgery, general ENT, thyroid conditions and voice, swallow & hearing problems. He has expertise in both surgery and diagnostics.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Bernstein has published numerous papers on functional MRI, cancer biomarkers and other areas of ENT. He has presented his work internationally. He also teaches junior doctors and medical students as well as working on the FRCS Joint Committee of Intercollegiate Examinations. He has also acted as an Honorary Consultant to the Gibraltar Health Authority.

Mr Bernstein have me all the time and patience I needed for my problem and helped me find a solution

I would highly recommend Jonathan Bernstein as a surgeon and am extremely grateful to him for his excellent care. His experience and knowledge are evident, and at every stage I felt that he had all possible outcomes pre-empted. Scans and investigations were quickly and efficiently arranged and followed up. I had the option of surgery or radiotherapy as first-line treatment and Jonathan arranged for me to see a radiotherapy expert so I felt fully briefed in deciding. In my case the radiotherapy expert agreed with Jonathan that surgery was the better option, and my operation (oncological tonsillectomy and removal of some lymph nodes in my neck) and recovery went exactly as Jonathan had predicted, with minimal scarring. Although I currently have private health insurance Jonathan told me I could switch into NHS care seamlessly at any stage which was reassuring to know. Jonathan is kind, understanding and a thoroughly nice man. I always felt that he and his colleagues had my best interests at heart and that I could not have been in better hands. I would recommend him without hesitation.

I was referred to Mr. Bernstein as soon as I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Mr. Bernstein explain in details the surgery required as well as the side effect that might occur. He visited me to the ward before the surgery, to make sure I am in a good condition. He is very kind, polite, and very professional.

Mr Bernstein has been excellent and I would highly recommend him. He successfully removed my parathyroid adenoma and was faultless from start to finish. From initial consultation, through to preparation for surgery, the operation itself and post-op care, Mr Bernstein has been great. He is clear, concise, thorough, empathetic and most importantly, an excellent surgeon.

It was a wonderful experience, being an international patient was more challenging to accumulate all information from past surgeries, but dr was very prompt and hands on.
