Mr James Pitt

Mr James Pitt is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon with extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal disorders, bowel cancer, hernias, and anorectal conditions. He qualified from the London Hospital Medical College, University of London, in 1989 and has been practising as a surgeon since 1989.

Following his medical training, Mr Pitt completed surgical training at Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital, and St Mary's Hospital in London. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1995 and subsequently undertook research at University College London, where he was awarded a Master of Science with Distinction in Surgical Science. He was appointed Consultant General Surgeon with a subspecialty interest in colorectal surgery at Ipswich Hospital in 2001 and is the senior colorectal surgeon at the hospital.

Mr Pitt specialises in colorectal surgery, with particular expertise in colorectal cancer, bowel cancer surgery, laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery, hernia repair, pilonidal sinus disease, haemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistulas, rectal prolapse, and other benign and malignant colorectal conditions. His practice includes colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, gastroscopy, polypectomy, stoma surgery, haemorrhoid surgery, rectopexy, anterior resection, and laparoscopic and open hernia repair.

Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Pitt has contributed to research in colorectal surgery and is a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland. He continues to provide specialist colorectal and general surgical care within both NHS and private practice settings.

Mr Pitt practises at Nuffield Health Ipswich Hospital and holds a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon appointment at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.
