About Mr Andrew Leather
Mr Andrew Leather is a highly experienced Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in Urogynaecology, Vaginal and Minimal Access Surgery. He was elected the Senior Vice President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2025. He has maintained an interest in General Gynaecology in particular the management of menstrual dysfunction and is able to offer the full range of treatment options for such conditions. Mr Leather has held a Consultant post since 2000, and for 6 years between 2007 and 2013 he also acted as the Clinical Director for Women's and Paediatrics at Ipswich Hospital.
Mr Leather is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and a Member of the British Society of Urogynaecology and British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy. He was elected by his peers to be the represented Fellow for the East of England on the RCOG Council in 2019 and in 2025 to the position of RCOG Senior Vice President.
As well as his clinical duties, Mr Leather takes an active role in teaching undergraduate medical students whilst they are on clinical attachments. He is a Faculty member of the Norwich Medical School and is an examiner for both the Norwich and Cambridge Medical schools for their undergraduate exams.
He has been an examiner for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists for their Membership exams for many years and was a previous chair from 2019-2023 of the Part 2 EMQ committee. He remains actively involved as a Senior examiner for the final part of the RCOG MRCOG exam.
Aside his Clinical & Educational Interests he has always been actively involved in clinical governance and risk management issues. He has a large Medicolegal Practice and his medico-legal opinion is highly valued in relation to Urogynaecology, General Gynaecology and Obstetrics due to his wealth of experience within these fields.
He currently practices privately at the Nuffield Health Ipswich Hospital which is easily accessible for patients in Suffolk and the surrounding East of England Region.
