Mr Fabio De Robertis is caring and reassuring. He clearly explains heart procedures, including risks and recovery, which builds patient confidence. His skill and expertise are consistently praised. Patients highlight his success with complex heart operations, especially valve repair or replacement.
From the moment I was referred to Mr De Robertis, he and his team provided excellent care. I was seen to quickly with all the necessary tests, detailed explanation of procedure, logistics organised quickly and excellent after care support to aid recovery. The catering staff were equally excellent providing varied choice of food and flexibility on a day-to-day basis. The after care support continued once I was at home with online support to check in on recovery.
I was referred to Fabio after being admitted to Luton & Dunstable Hospital with suspected pneumonia - and then discovering I had a prolapsed Mitral Valve. I had to week several weeks for heart surgery because of the complication of managing my lungs - and by the time surgery took place it was clear my condition was far more complex than originally anticipated. Fabio came to see me daily in the week preceding surgery, to help manage my expectations but also because it was clear he genuinely valued spending time with his patients. He was always honest with us and explained the complexity of the surgery he was going to perform, due to the weakness of the heart - but he did an extraordinary job - 10 hours of surgery and a whole evening spent at my bedside to ensure that I was going to make it through provided enormous support for my family. And subsequent tests, scans, xrays etc were going to prove that his work had even exceeded his own expectations, and I am now well on my way to a full recovery. It was not just Fabio's extraordinary technical skills, enabling to perform a procedure that many surgeons wouldn't have attempted, but the obvious personal care and empathy he was able to demonstrate through this process that was such a huge source of comfort for me and my family. There are no words to capture the gratitude I have for what Fabio did for me, and I can only thank my lucky stars that we were referred to him by the cardiologists at L&D hospital. Thank you Thank you
Excellent surgeon. Highly recommended. All aspects of pending open heart surgery clearly explained
Mr Fabio De Robertis' expertise and knowledge was clear throughout our meeting to discuss complex valve surgery but he also demonstrated an understanding of the many personal factors which are of importance when a decision is to be made. I felt listened too, not rushed, and am confident and happy moving forward under Mr De Robertis' care.
Mr de ROBERTIS provided me with a very thorough and understandable explanation of my proposed complex surgery; the risks and benefits, the lack of viable alternatives and offered many opportunities to ask questions and check my understanding. An extremely thorough discussion and clinical review. Very patient focused.
To be told you need heart surgery is a very worring experance When admitted to Harefield Hospital Dr Robertis came to see me within an hour of my arrival, he explained I would be having more tests before deciding exactly what surgery was needed. Once that was agreed he fully explained what it was going to happen and the recovery time. I was in hospital 7 days before the operation and he reasured me every day. It is with thanks to Dr Robertis that I am still alive I did not realise how ill I was. The recovery has been good, I obviously had some bad days and was quite depressed some days but thanks to my Family I soon got over this I had my first check up at 6 weeks and it was then they found my heart was not beating to the correct rythem, I spent one day in hospital the following week to have that corrected, and that was successfull I am now back at work , when addmitted to hospital I thought I would never work again So thank you Dr Robertis and your Team, I owe my life to you all Andy M.
Mr De Robertis was impeccable in his manner. He is evidently an international expert in his field, he discussed my scans in detailed and the options for management in a clear fashion. He was warm, empathetic and highly reassuring. He is by far the best surgeon I have consulted.
I vividly remember the moment my cardiologist told me I needed a quadruple bypass—it was one of the scariest times of my life. I was then referred to Mr. Fabio De Robertis, who immediately put me at ease by clearly explaining the procedure and what to expect. Throughout every stage of the process, Mr. De Robertis provided clear, detailed explanations that helped me understand exactly what was happening. He not only walked me through the surgery itself, but also offered general advice that boosted my confidence and significantly reduced my stress. After the operation, Mr. De Robertis visited me regularly to check on my recovery and patiently answered all of my questions. During a post-operative review, I experienced a minor issue and had to stay in the hospital for a day, four weeks after the surgery. He explained the situation thoroughly and reassured me that it was in my best interest. He also gave me helpful recovery guidance, including how and when to gradually resume activities like running. Fifteen weeks after the surgery, I was discharged by Mr. De Robertis and am now back to living a normal life. I’ve even started running again—something I’ve always loved. I’m incredibly grateful to Mr. De Robertis for his exceptional care, professionalism, and compassion throughout this journey. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone in need of cardiac surgery.
Mr De Robertis is very sincere and calm, and willing to investigate the best suitable solution to advise on what should happen. He took time to understand my family health history to identify the problem sensibly and logically. He has great professionalism and a huge amount of experience and expertise.
Mr de Robertis was amazing. From my first consultation to the final visit he took time to explain everything. He brought forward my admission to avoid industrial action and was always available for help if required. The surgery was expertly carried out with virtually no pain. Thank you for your wonderful care.
