Mr Duncan Avis

Mr Duncan Avis is a Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery at North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke, part of the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and also practices privately at the Circle Hampshire Clinic, Candover Clinic and Medicana in Winchester. He graduated with MB ChB from the University of Bristol, before completing his surgical training across Bristol, the South West, and South Wales, where he also held academic teaching and research roles.

Specialising in orthopaedics, Mr Avis undertook higher training in the Wessex region while completing a Master’s degree (MSc) in Trauma Surgery. Following his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Trauma & Orthopaedics), he completed the prestigious British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) Fellowship at the Queen Elizabeth and Royal Orthopaedic Hospitals. He is also among a select group of UK surgeons to hold a Diploma in Hand Surgery, reflecting his advanced expertise and evidence-based approach.

Mr Avis specialises in all aspects of hand and upper limb surgery, with a particular focus on wrist surgery and trauma. His practice covers carpal tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren’s disease, trigger finger, ganglion cyst removal, wrist arthroscopy, elbow surgery, and joint replacement.

He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Society for Surgery of the Hand.
