Mr Derrick Siau

Mr Siau is a UK trained ear, nose and throat surgeon who graduated from the university of Cambridge. He treats a wide range of ENT conditions and believes in conservative management ahead of surgery. Focusing on patients' choice and individual circumstances in formulating a holistic and personal treatment plan for every patient based on both the disease itself and patient's circumstances.

As a medical student, Mr Siau developed his interest in surgery and spent time at the Kuching and Miri General Hospitals in Borneo, where he developed an interest in ear, nose and throat surgery. He commenced his surgical training in Manchester, working at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. He was then appointed to the ENT training programme in Manchester where he was an ENT registrar from 2008 - 2014. In 2014, he devoted six months in advanced rhinology training under the auspices Mr John de Carpentier. He was able to further develop his expertise in the surgical treatment of nose allergies, sinus disease, tear duct obstruction and nasal deformities.

In June 2014, Mr Siau was appointed a consultant at both Macclesfield District General Hospital and University Hospitals of South Manchester. During this period, he helped develop and reorganise the ENT services at Macclesfield District Hospital, as well as becoming heavily involved in teaching and service development. He currently manages both general adult and paediatric ENT conditions as well as specialist clinics in balance disorders and otology.

Mr Siau has been recognised and accredited specialist status by the specialist advisory committee in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and the General Medical Council. His certificate of completion of training (CCT) was awarded in August 2014.

Mr Siau is passionate about teaching and is heavily involved with Edge Hill University where he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer for the post-graduate MSc course. He also participates in regular audit of his and his departments work and regularly evaluates the outcome of any surgery performed on his patients. He continuously aspires to provide high quality, safe healthcare centred on the individual patient.
