Mr Carl Hardwidge

Mr. Carl Hardwidge is a renowned Consultant Neurosurgeon with a consultant career in neurosurgery spanning back to 1992. He held a pivotal role as the Clinical Director of Neurosciences, overseeing neurosurgery, neurology, stroke rehabilitation and spinal surgery at Brighton and Sussex University Hospital Trust until 2018.

Having served as a Council Member for the Society of British Neurosurgeons and as a President for both the British Skull Base Society and the European Skull Base Society, Mr. Hardwidge's leadership within the neurosurgical community is truly commendable. He has also made substantial contributions as an Examiner and Board Member of the Intercollegiate Fellowship in Neurosurgery and as an Examiner for the international intercollegiate fellowship in Neurosurgery.

Mr. Hardwidge's expertise extends to a variety of treatments offered at Nuffield Health Haywards Heath Hospital, including lumbar discectomy ( microdiscectomy), spinal decompression, cervical discectomy, cervical foraminotomy, carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve decompression.

His professional interests further encompass intricate fields such as skull base surgery, acoustic neuroma, trigeminal neuralgia, Chiari malformation, syringomyelia, degenerative spinal surgery, intradural spinal surgery, and surgery for intracranial meningioma. Mr Hardwidge retired from the NHS this year and his practice now focuses on the range of conditions he can treat at the Nuffield Hospital.

Mr. Hardwidge is an esteemed member of several prestigious medical organisations, including the British Medical Association, Society of British Neurosurgeons, British Skull Base Society, European Skull Base Society, and the British Association of Spinal Surgeons. His extensive experience, leadership roles, and commitment to advancing neurosurgery make him a well known figure in the field.
