Dr Miratul Muqit

Dr Miratul Muqit is an accomplished Consultant Neurologist with extensive expertise in diagnosing and managing complex neurological conditions. He has dedicated his career to improving the lives of individuals living with brain and nerve disorders, maintaining a primary clinical focus on movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease. Known for providing compassionate and evidence-based care, Dr Muqit works closely with patients and families to deliver thorough diagnostic evaluations and tailored therapeutic plans.

Dr Muqit graduated with a degree in Medicine with Honours from the University of Edinburgh in 1997. He subsequently undertook advanced neurobiology research as a Kennedy Scholar at Harvard University, before earning his PhD from the University College London Institute of Neurology in 2007. Alongside his academic research, he completed comprehensive specialist clinical training in neurology and movement disorders. Dr Muqit is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, and a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Muqit serves as a Professor of Experimental Neurology, leading research into the molecular mechanisms that drive neurodegenerative diseases. His pioneering investigations focus on genetic risk factors and cellular pathways linked to Parkinson's disease, with a view to discovering targeted therapies that slow or stop disease progression.
