About Mr Minak Bhalla
Mr Minak Bhalla is a highly skilled and compassionate Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in glaucoma and cataract surgery. Based at the Royal Free Hospital and Clinica London, he is recognised for his clinical expertise, innovative surgical techniques, and patient-centred approach.
Mr Bhalla offers a range of advanced treatments for glaucoma, including the Hydrus Microstent, iStent, PreserFlo MicroShunt, and PAUL Glaucoma Implant. He also provides laser treatments such as selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), laser iridotomy, and cyclodiode therapy, as well as cataract surgery in glaucoma patients, with or without minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) procedures.
He completed a two-year Glaucoma Surgical Fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital, where he was the senior lead fellow under the mentorship of world-renowned glaucoma surgeons. During his training in the prestigious North London Ophthalmology Deanery, he was appointed Chief Resident at the Western Eye Hospital and gained extensive experience at leading centres including Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Mr Bhalla’s commitment to education and innovation is reflected in his numerous achievements. He has received national awards for his research, contributed chapters to a leading ophthalmology textbook, and co-developed an educational ophthalmology app for resident training. Passionate about global ophthalmology, Mr Bhalla co-leads the postgraduate programme for the Global Education & Research Organisation (GERSO) and has helped establish a glaucoma surgical training project in West Africa in collaboration with UCL and international partners. From the very first consultation I had with Mr. Bhalla I knew he was someone in whom I would have 100% confidence. Over and above his obvious expertise, almost as importantly his explanations were always clear, and his tone and manner reassuring, making me feel at ease the whole time. I genuinely could not ask for more.

What an amazingly kind and thoughtful consultant. Stellar in all aspects . I felt reassured than all was going to be fine after just a few minutes of being in the same room as the consultant.

Answered all my questions with patience and understanding. Has a very calm manner and put me at ease with the concerns I had. Would recommend highly.
Mr Balla was patient focused, friendly, and took as much time as i needed to explain the results of my operation and ongoing plans. Felt comfortable and supported in his care. An excellent consultant.
My mother who is 85 and very anxious saw Dr Bhalla last week and he was absolutely wonderful with her - kind, patient and attentive. He took time to explain everything thoroughly and she left feeling genuinely heard and well looked after. It's not easy to put an elderly patient at ease but he did it effortlessly. We couldn't recommend him more highly.
