Dr Michelle Oswal

Dr Michelle Oswal is a Consultant Neurologist based in North West London, specialising in general neurology with particular expertise in headache, migraine and facial pain. She is the Clinical Lead for the Headache Service at Hillingdon Hospital and also sees private patients at The Clementine Churchill Hospital in Harrow.

Dr Oswal completed her medical degree at University College London and also obtained an undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience. She completed her foundation and core medical training in London and achieved MRCP in 2011. She subsequently undertook a PhD at the UCL Institute of Neurology, funded by the MRC-Wellcome Trust, followed by postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford. She completed her specialist training in clinical neurology across Birmingham, Oxford and London.

In 2023, Dr Oswal joined the complex headache service at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, where she gained further expertise in managing complex headache, facial pain and other neurological conditions. She has since led the development of a specialist headache service at Hillingdon, treating patients across North West London. She also has experience managing acute and chronic neurological conditions through rapid-access neurology clinics, inpatient reviews and outpatient clinics.

Dr Oswal has particular expertise in headache and migraine management, including headaches associated with hormonal changes and the menopause. She is trained in advanced headache treatments including Botox and local nerve blocks and offers treatment options including CGRP monoclonal antibody therapy, gepants and wearable medical devices. Her clinical interests also include facial pain, cluster headache and trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Oswal has contributed to updating local headache guidelines and to the education and training of medical colleagues to support headache management in primary and secondary care. She leads the neurology teaching programme for Imperial College medical students at Hillingdon and has presented at national medical conferences and teaching courses.
