Dr Melanie Romain

Dr Melanie Romain is a Consultant Physician and Geriatrician who studied medicine in South Africa before completing her specialist training in North West London in 2012. During her training, she worked across several major London hospitals, including Hammersmith Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital, gaining broad experience in acute and general medicine.

In 2013, she was appointed as a Consultant at the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust and is based at Barnet Hospital. She leads a busy acute geriatrics ward and manages patients on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. While specialising in geriatric medicine, she cares for adults across a wide age range, particularly those with complex medical needs and multiple conditions.

Dr Romain has also contributed to the medical liaison service at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, providing perioperative medical assessment and optimisation for surgical patients. She is currently involved in multidisciplinary care within the care home setting, supporting frail and elderly patients through coordinated, community-based medical services.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Romain has a strong interest in medical education and is actively involved in teaching and supporting junior doctors and medical students.
