Dr Martin Heaton

Dr Martin Heaton is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon specialising in plastic and reconstructive surgery. With expertise in head and neck surgery, skin cancer management, and advanced microsurgical techniques, he provides objective, reassuring, and individualised care to his patients. Working alongside multidisciplinary surgical teams, he focuses on achieving optimal functional and aesthetic outcomes for individuals undergoing reconstructive procedures.

Dr Heaton completed his medical training at the University of Nottingham Medical School, qualifying in 1992 after completing an intercalated Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree. He subsequently earned a doctorate (MD) from the University of Sheffield in 2003 for his postgraduate research focusing on artificial skin development and reconstruction. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1996 and obtained his intercollegiate specialty board examination qualification in plastic surgery, FRCS(Plast), in 2006. Dr Heaton undertook specialist fellowship training at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre and is a member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons.

In his clinical practice, Dr Heaton delivers comprehensive surgical care for patients requiring complex reconstruction following cancer treatment or trauma. His work encompasses sub-specialties such as head and neck surgery, skin cancer surgery, microsurgery, and reconstruction following Mohs surgery. He performs a broad range of procedures, including free flap reconstruction, sentinel lymph node biopsy, tissue defect repair, scar revision, and the treatment of acute hand injuries. His patient-centred approach ensures that each individual receives clear guidance and tailored treatment focused on restoring both physical function and appearance.
