Dr Martin Dachsel

Dr Martin Dachsel is a dedicated Consultant in Acute and General Medicine who serves as a Clinical Lead in acute care. Specialising in General (Internal) Medicine, he oversees the rapid assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients presenting with acute medical illnesses. His clinical focus centres on managing urgent medical conditions, delivering comprehensive inpatient care, and ensuring seamless continuity throughout emergency and acute medical pathways.

His specialist areas of interest include the application of Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) for the bedside evaluation of acutely unwell patients, sepsis diagnosis and treatment, and the operational interface between emergency, acute, and intensive care medicine. Dr Dachsel is deeply involved in medical education and clinical research, having taught bedside ultrasound extensively across the country and contributed to national studies focused on improving clinical outcomes and patient safety.

Dr Dachsel completed his medical degree at Dresden University, Germany, qualifying in 2001 before completing his Doctorate in Medicine in stroke research. He subsequently relocated to the United Kingdom to undertake postgraduate training in acute and emergency medicine, completing his higher specialist training in 2015. He is an active contributor to professional bodies within his field, including membership in the Focused Acute Medicine Ultrasound (FAMUS) working group, where he helps deliver national educational initiatives.
