Professor Mark Little is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist and Director of Radiology Research, serving patients in Berkshire and London. After graduating with distinction from medical school, he began his clinical training in medicine and surgery in Cambridge before earning a prestigious National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Academic Clinical Fellowship in Clinical Radiology at Oxford.
He holds dual certification (CCT) in Clinical and Interventional Radiology, having completed his interventional radiology fellowship at Oxford. His expertise spans the full spectrum of interventional radiology, with a particular subspecialty in uroradiology and cancer imaging. He has also undergone advanced training in multiparametric MRI of the prostate.
In 2013, Professor Little travelled to Lisbon to train under Professor Pisco, a pioneer of Prostate Artery Embolisation (PAE). Upon returning to the UK, he secured grant funding from the Royal College of Radiologists to lead the country’s first research study into the effectiveness of PAE for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Today, he is regarded as one of the most experienced interventional radiologists performing PAE globally, conducting a high volume of cases and serving as a mentor and trainer for other consultants. He is also a key advisor to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) on PAE and other emerging interventional procedures, and currently leads the UK arm of the international PROstate study on the long-term outcomes of PAE.
Professor Little is a frequent speaker and moderator at international conferences and was recognised in 2018 with the NIHR Rising Research Star award. In 2020, he joined the editorial board of CardioVascular and Interventional Radiology (CVIR), Europe’s leading journal in the field.
Known for his meticulous approach and patient-centred care, Professor Little combines cutting-edge imaging with thorough procedural planning to ensure optimal outcomes. He takes time to explain each treatment, including potential side effects and post-procedural expectations, to support informed and confident patient decisions.
