Dr Mark Baker

Dr Mark Baker is a highly accomplished Consultant Neurologist and Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist. He also holds academic and leadership roles as an Honorary Professor of Experimental Neurology and Head of the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology. In his clinical practice, Dr Baker is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for patients with complex neurological conditions, combining his clinical expertise with a deep commitment to research and academic advancement.

His clinical work encompasses a broad range of neurophysiological investigations and treatments. Dr Baker has a particular interest in the neurophysiology of movement disorders and neurodegenerative conditions, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and motor neurone disease. His routine clinical practice includes performing and interpreting diagnostic tests such as electroneurography, electromyography, and electroencephalography, as well as supporting epilepsy surgery and conducting evoked potential studies. He is also actively involved in pioneering research focused on the development of advanced electrodiagnostics and electroceuticals to improve patient outcomes.

Dr Baker completed his medical training at Cambridge University and Yale University, qualifying in medicine in 2000. Prior to this, he obtained a PhD in neuroscience from Cambridge University in 1999. He completed his specialist training in neurology and was admitted to the Specialist Register in Neurology in 2008, alongside his registration in clinical neurophysiology. Dr Baker is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, reflecting his high standing within the medical community and his ongoing dedication to professional standards.
