Dr. Mariana Colmenares

Dr. Mariana Colmenares is a highly experienced paediatric specialist, tongue-tie practitioner, and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), with over 14 years of expertise in community child health. She is renowned for her high standards of professional and humanistic care, particularly in breastfeeding support and tongue-tie release. Over the past ten years, she has performed more than 1000 tongue-tie releases.

Dr. Colmenares earned her medical degree from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and completed her paediatric specialisation at the Instituto Nacional de Pediatría, the foremost referral centre for child care in Mexico. She also undertook an internship at the Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición, Salvador Zubirán, a premier training and research centre.

Passionate about developmental paediatrics and feeding, Dr. Colmenares has extensive experience in counselling, educating, and training healthcare professionals, along with clinical investigation. She has specialised in neurodevelopmental paediatrics and breastfeeding medicine for over a decade, with additional training in autism and autism assessment.

Dr. Colmenares is a strong leader dedicated to numerous national and international projects. She collaborates internationally with the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine ABM, where she is Secretary since 2022. She also collaborates with the National Public Health Institute in Mexico and UNICEF and is currently serving as a Specialty Doctor in Community Paediatrics at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.
