Dr Lesley Ottewell

Dr Lesley Ottewell is an experienced Consultant Rheumatologist who provides compassionate and comprehensive care for patients with complex musculoskeletal and autoimmune disorders. Working as a Lead Clinician, she is dedicated to creating a supportive, welcoming environment where patients feel fully heard and empowered throughout their diagnosis and treatment journey. Her clinical practice focuses on delivering tailored, evidence-based management to help individuals regain mobility, reduce pain, and improve their long-term health outcomes.

Dr Ottewell completed her undergraduate medical degree at the University of Dundee, followed by higher specialist training in Newcastle. During her postgraduate specialist training, she developed a particular clinical interest in connective tissue diseases and devoted significant research time to the investigation of scleroderma. She maintains a strong commitment to clinical excellence and staying at the forefront of advancement in rheumatological medicine.

Her main clinical interests include systemic sclerosis, rheumatic causes of interstitial lung disease, and autoimmune connective tissue disorders. Dr Ottewell also possesses broad expertise in managing general rheumatological conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, osteoarthritis, giant cell arteritis, and psoriatic arthritis. Through detailed diagnostic assessments and individualised care plans, she offers patients reassuring guidance and targeted therapies to manage chronic conditions effectively.
