Laurie Nettle

Laurie Nettle is a highly qualified Speech and Language Therapist at Eleos Clinic. They are dedicated to working with people to improve their communication and help them find their voice. Laurie has a Bachelor's degree in English language and linguistics and a Master's degree in Speech and Language Therapy, they are now a member of the prestigious Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.

Laurie has extensive experience working with children and young people who are autistic, as well as their own lived experience of autism. They have been part of the NHS autism assessment team since 2017, and during that time contributed to substantial improvements. In terms of therapy, they work with parents, nurseries and schools to create supportive communication environments. Additionally, Laurie works directly with children, young people and their families to develop effective communication skills tailored to the individual needs. Their approach is child-centred while taking into account the family context; when relevant, sessions may include siblings or extended family members.

Laurie offers a range of assessments and tools, including Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, ADOS-2, Social Thinking Programme, Nuffield Programme for Verbal Dyspraxia, and the Palin Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for children who stammer. Their goal in assessment is to gain a thorough understanding of an individual's communication and interpersonal skills. Laurie believes we all have strengths when it comes to communication, and they are dedicated to helping people harness those strengths.
