Dr Lalani Carlton Jones is a consultant Neuroradiologist practicing in diagnostic neuroradiology and spinal intervention.

Lalani graduated from the University of Cambridge with first class honours, winning the Titular Scholarship, then qualifying in medicine from Imperial College London with distinctions in clinical science and clinical practice. She trained in neurology and neurosurgery before entering general radiology training in London and then completing the pan-London neuroradiology fellowship. She was appointed as a Consultant Neuroradiologist in 2018 at Guys and St Thomas’s, The Evelina Childrens Hospital and Kings College Hospitals, London.

Lalani has a keen interest in education, recently completing a masters degree in Medical Education and is an honorary senior clinical lecturer at King’s College London. Furthermore, Lalani has founded and directed several national teaching radiology courses, as well as serving as neuroradiology lead for UKIO and the Royal College of Radiologists annual conferences.

She holds national teaching roles as Chair of Training for the British Society of Neuroradiologists (BSNR), Vice-President for the UK Imaging and Oncology congress- the UK’s largest radiology conference, Royal College of Radiologists FRCR examiner and as the Medical Education Lead for RCR learning.

Lalani has authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles, oral presentations, invited lectures and chaired conference sessions and has been awarded several prestigious national and international awards and prizes for her work. These include winning the BSNR Trainer of the Year, Kings Stars Leaders in Healthcare, Innovation and Research, Kings Health Partners Innovation in Education award, BSNR Travelling scholarship, Royal College of Radiologists JRF Trainer of the Year nominee, RCR National Vera Ansell prize as well as several conference awards for winning presentations and exhibits including the RSNA (Radiological Society of North America). 

She has served as an expert peer reviewer for 8 major academic journals in the fields of neuroradiology and neurosciences. 

Specialist clinical interests:

Lalani has a particular clinical interest in spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) and spinal CSF leaks, has trained in the USA and collaborated with world-leading experts in this field. She is known internationally as a peer expert in this field, pioneering and publishing new techniques, contributing to the growing literature as well as regularly lecturing nationally and internationally educating others and raising awareness of this condition.

She is currently one of only a few neuroradiologists in the UK working as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team able to offer comprehensive investigation and  management for this condition. This including advanced myelographic techniques and the use of targeted blood/fibrin glue patching.
