Dr Kenneth Baker

Dr Kenneth Baker is a highly accomplished Consultant Rheumatologist who specialises in adult inflammatory arthritis. With a strong commitment to patient-centred care, he focuses on helping individuals manage chronic joint conditions, particularly rheumatoid arthritis. Dr Baker is dedicated to improving patient outcomes by exploring innovative approaches to treatment, such as personalised drug tapering and achieving drug-free remission, ensuring that each patient receives tailored care that minimises side effects while maintaining excellent disease control.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Baker is an active Clinical Academic and Researcher. His pioneering work focuses on understanding and predicting arthritis flares, utilising advanced tools like blood tests and wearable activity monitors to help patients and clinicians make shared, informed decisions. By identifying key biomarkers, he aims to make drug-free remission a safe and achievable goal for those living with inflammatory arthritis, contributing significantly to the advancement of modern rheumatological care.

Dr Baker began his medical journey at the University of Oxford, where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Medical Sciences in 2005, followed by his clinical medical qualification (BMBCh) in 2008. He obtained his postgraduate medical qualification and became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2011. Dedicated to clinical research and teaching, he subsequently completed a Master of Research in 2014 and a PhD in 2018 at Newcastle University, alongside a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education.
