Dr Katherine Irving is a Consultant Rheumatologist with extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of rheumatological and musculoskeletal conditions. She graduated in medicine in 1996 and completed specialist training in both General (Internal) Medicine and Rheumatology in London. She has been practising as a Consultant Rheumatologist since 2008.
Dr Irving works at King’s College Hospital and also sees patients privately at Nuffield Health St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. Her clinical expertise spans the full spectrum of general rheumatology, including inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases, and acute rheumatological presentations. She has a particular interest in early inflammatory arthritis, where prompt diagnosis and treatment can make a significant difference to long-term outcomes.
She also has a strong specialist interest in fibromyalgia, complexity, and the psychological aspects of living with long-term rheumatological and pain conditions. Dr Irving was a lead consultant in the award-winning Guy’s multidisciplinary fibromyalgia service and continues to work closely within multidisciplinary teams to deliver highly individualised, patient-centred care for people with complex pain and rheumatological disorders.

Dr Irving was very thorough and informative. I didn't feel hurried at all and she was happy to answer any questions I had.
I recently saw Dr Irving for my rheumatology appointment, she was amazing! Dr Irving listened to everything I had to say, and did not make me feel uncomfortable or stupid. I told her things I hadn’t told anyone else ever, that’s how good her bedside manner was. She has such a calm and gentle approach and is extremely knowledgeable. Dr Irving did not rush me and took the time to listen to all of my symptoms.
Dr Irving has been amazing throughout! She assessed me and made recommendations that were helpful and useful. She really took the time know me and my situation in order to provide the best solution for me. I appreciate all she has done for me.
As always, my check ups with Dr Irving are a refreshing and uplifting experience. Her professionalism and thoroughness to ensure she has a global view of things has unrivalled over the many years I have had the pleasure of being under her care. I always leave feeling like I have been listened to, and any items discussed will move forward in the right direction.
Dr Irving is a caring doctor with a great bedside manner. She always takes her time to listen and goes out of her way to help where she can.
