Dr. Julia Rawstorne

Dr. Julia Rawstorne is a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in General Adult Psychiatry. She provides clinical care for adults experiencing a broad spectrum of mental health challenges, offering an individualised and non-judgemental approach to psychiatric assessment and care. Her work focuses on helping patients navigate complex psychological issues, including mood disorders, anxiety, psychosis, and stress-related conditions, to support long-term well-being and daily functioning.

Dr. Rawstorne completed her foundational medical degree at the University of Auckland, graduating with a Bachelor of Human Biology in 1988 and qualifying with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1992. She subsequently undertook specialist post-graduate medical training in psychiatry in the West of Scotland, becoming a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2002 and receiving her Certificate of Completion of Training in General Adult and Liaison Psychiatry in 2005. To further enhance her diagnostic practice, she completed specialised training in adult autism assessments through programmes in Cambridge and Oxford. She is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Special Interest Group in Neurodevelopmental Conditions and is designated as an Approved Medical Practitioner under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003.

Throughout her clinical practice, Dr. Rawstorne has developed particular expertise in neurodevelopmental conditions in adults, including autism spectrum conditions and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She carries out comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and ongoing treatment monitoring for individuals with co-occurring mental health conditions. Her clinical interests also include liaison psychiatry, young adult mental health, psychophysiological disorders, and women's mental health, with a focus on managing mood and anxiety disorders linked to hormonal changes.
