Dr John David Hung

Dr John Hung is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, specialising in complex coronary intervention. He has specialised in interventional cardiology since 2012 and has extensive experience in high-risk and technically demanding cases, including chronic total occlusions (CTO), left main disease, and advanced calcium modification techniques such as rotational atherectomy and intravascular lithotripsy.

He has a strong interest in the use of intracoronary imaging and physiology to optimise outcomes, and has contributed to national work in this area, including authorship of UK consensus guidance on intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) in PCI.

John regularly organises and contributes to international educational congresses and courses, where he is an invited speaker and performs live cases. He is also a Chief Investigator and academic researcher, leading and contributing to clinical studies aimed at improving patient outcomes. He holds a PhD in Cardiovascular Science from the University of Edinburgh.

John takes a clear and straightforward approach, aiming to explain things in a way that is easy to understand and helping patients feel informed and confident about their treatment options. He focuses on delivering safe, effective care tailored to each individual.
