Dr Jean Abraham is a highly distinguished Consultant Medical Oncologist and Professor of Precision Breast Cancer Medicine who is dedicated to transforming the landscape of breast cancer care. With a clinical focus on precision medicine, she specialises in tailoring treatments to the unique genetic profile of each patient's tumour. Her reassuring and patient-centred approach ensures that individuals receiving care feel supported and informed throughout their treatment journey.
Dr Abraham began her medical journey at the University of Liverpool, where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology before qualifying in medicine in 1995. She subsequently completed her residency in internal medicine and obtained her Membership of the Royal College of Physicians. Committed to advancing oncological research, she later earned a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Cambridge. In her clinical practice, Dr Abraham focuses on clinical genomics, utilising advanced whole genome and whole transcriptome sequencing to identify specific genetic mutations within tumours. This allows her to design highly individualised treatment strategies, particularly for patients with high-risk, early-stage, and hereditary breast cancers, as well as triple-negative breast cancer. As a leading researcher, she serves as the Chief Investigator for several national clinical trials aimed at integrating cutting-edge scientific discoveries directly into patient care, helping to improve clinical outcomes and pioneer new therapeutic pathways.
