Dr James Rudge

Dr James Rudge is a highly dedicated Consultant Anaesthetist committed to delivering safe, high-quality perioperative care tailored to the individual needs of each patient. Specialising in Anaesthetics, he works closely with surgical teams to ensure patient safety, comfort, and effective pain relief throughout the surgical journey. His practice is guided by a patient-centred approach that emphasises clear communication, empathy, and evidence-based clinical practices to help put patients at ease.

Dr Rudge completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Birmingham, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) with Honours, having previously earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) with Honours in Biomedical Science from the University of Sheffield. He achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) by examination in 2017. Demonstrating an ongoing commitment to medical education and clinical research, Dr Rudge has also held a position as an Honorary Academic Tutor at the College of Medical and Dental Sciences at the University of Birmingham.

In his clinical practice, Dr Rudge focuses on orthopaedic and trauma anaesthesia, with particular expertise in regional anaesthesia. His areas of clinical interest include acute pain management, perioperative care, and enhanced recovery protocols designed to promote faster and smoother post-operative rehabilitation. He utilises advanced ultrasound guidance for nerve blocks and targeted anaesthetic procedures to enhance clinical precision and patient comfort.

His research work surrounding acute pain management and perioperative care has been presented at national and international conferences and published in peer-reviewed medical literature.
