He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and a member of both the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) and the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH). His research has been supported by awards and grants from institutions such as the Wellcome Trust, the Academy of Medical Sciences, the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh, and BAPRAS.
Committed to surgical education, Mr Chan is a GMC-recognised trainer and serves on the Education and Training Committee of BSSH. He serves as Deputy Editor of the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and peer-reviewer for other international journals.
