Mr Hazem Nijim

Mr. Hazem Nijim is a consultant otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton. His specialties include head and neck oncological surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and salivary gland surgery. Mr. Nijim leads the multi-disciplinary thyroid oncology team in Derby and Burton and is an integral member of the multi-disciplinary head and neck oncology team, which provides cancer services to the residents of Derbyshire.

Mr. Nijim earned his medical degree from Santiago de Compostela University in Spain in 2001. He pursued specialised training in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery in Spain, and further honed his expertise through prestigious fellowships in head and neck and thyroid oncology in France and the United Kingdom. His clinical interests encompass head and neck oncology, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and salivary gland surgery.

In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Nijim has a strong commitment to medical education. He completed a postgraduate diploma in medical education from the University of Nottingham and serves as the undergraduate lead for ENT at Derby Hospital Medical School. His contributions to the field are also reflected in his numerous publications in peer-reviewed medical journals. Currently, Mr. Nijim is the principal investigator for the HoT Trial, a national research project focused on thyroid cancer.
