Dr Gui Tran

Dr Gui Tran is a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Rheumatologist. He specialises in Inflammatory Arthritis such as Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis, Gout, Soft Tissue & Musculoskeletal Injuries, Polymyalgia Rheumatica, Ultrasound, and Ultrasound-guided Injections. He obtained his primary medical degree in 2009 from the University of Leeds, during this time he was awarded the McCleod Award in Microbiology. Following this he has obtained numerous other qualifications, including a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine, Advanced Level Ultrasound from the European League Against Rheumatism and a Fellowship to complete his PhD at the highly competitive National Institute of Health and Research.

Dr Tran gained experience at different Trusts across West Yorkshire, including Bradford, Leeds, Mid-Yorks and Harrogate; he has also worked as a sports doctor for a number of different amateur and professional sports clubs.

More recently, Dr Tran was awarded the prestigious Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund to develop his research on the role of Ultrasound in shoulder pain. He has presented his work at conferences nationally and internationally, and has published books and leaflets in addition to research papers. Dr Tran is also passionate about medical education and has been involved in training other doctors. He has worked with the University of Leeds and was a part of the group who were recently awarded the Clinical Team Excellence Award.
