Alongside her private practice, Dr Smotra also works as a full-time consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist in the NHS at Walsall Manor Hospital, Birmingham, West Midlands where she manages a wide spectrum of obstetrics and gynaecological conditions and contributes to high-quality patient care and service development.
She serves as the Early pregnancy, Acute gynaecology and Gynaecology Governance Lead consultant at Walsall Manor Hospital. Along with her clinical work, she sits on various care group, divisional and Trust level meetings providing her expertise.
She also runs post menopausal bleeding clinics, ovarian cyst clinics and outpatient hysteroscopy clinics in her NHS practice.

Very professional and thorough, very caring and friendly, the Dr and the two nurses
I was feeling very anxious about my appointment but the lovely lady Doctor put me at ease and the ladies that worked with her were easy to talk to. The procedure was exlpained clearly so I knew what was going to happen . The staff are a credit to the service.
From the moment on went into the waiting room I was made welcome and at ease. Dr Smotra put me at ease and explained what to expect. The 2 nurses who assisted the Dr were lovely, making sure I was comfortable, and reassuring I felt in safe hands. I couldn’t fault the care.
Staff was wonderful. I can appreciate that they are very busy but overall very good Thank you to all the staff , they need a paid holiday

Endometriosis and overlapping conditions
Research shows that people with endometriosis are more likely to experience several other chronic conditions—including adenomyosis, IBS, bladder pain syndrome, migraine, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and pelvic-floor dysfunction. Anxiety and depression are also more common—not because the symptoms are “all in the mind,” but because chronic pain, infertility, delayed diagnosis and repeated treatments can profoundly affect emotional wellbeing. This does not mean that endometriosis directly causes every one of these conditions. It means we need to recognise overlapping symptoms and treat the whole person. If pain continues despite endometriosis treatment, we should also consider the bowel, bladder, pelvic floor, nervous system and emotional wellbeing

Wid easy vaginal swab triage test to rule out womb cancer.
WID-easy is a minimally invasive molecular test designed to help triage women ≥45 years presenting with abnormal uterine bleeding, including postmenopausal bleeding. • A simple cervicovaginal swab is taken, rather than an endometrial biopsy. • The test (WID-qEC) detects DNA methylation changes in ZSCAN12 and GYPC associated with uterine/endometrial cancer. • In the UK prospective EPI-SURE study (399 women ≥45 with AUB), WID-qEC had sensitivity 90.9%, specificity 92.1% and NPV 99.7% for uterine cancer. • Sensitivity was similar to ultrasound using an endometrial thickness cut-off, but specificity was substantially higher (92.1% vs 79.1%), potentially reducing unnecessary hysteroscopy/biopsy. (PubMed) • It is therefore primarily a triage/rule-out test — a positive result still requires appropriate further investigation and histological diagnosis. • The commercial WID-easy test was registered with the MHRA in 2025 and is now beginning to enter NHS pathways; Royal United Hospitals Bath announced implementation for women referred with PMB/unscheduled bleeding on HRT in September 2026.
