Dr Gillian Coombes

Dr Gillian Coombes is an experienced Consultant Rheumatologist who provides comprehensive clinical care for patients affected by a wide range of musculoskeletal and autoimmune conditions. With a compassionate and patient-centred approach, she specialises in diagnosing and managing complex inflammatory disorders, supporting individuals through diagnosis, treatment, and long-term symptom management to improve their overall quality of life.

Her clinical practice encompasses the management of inflammatory arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis, alongside connective tissue diseases and autoimmune conditions such as systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis, polymyalgia rheumatica, temporal arteritis, and gout. Dr Coombes has a strong clinical focus on advanced biologic therapies and modern management strategies for autoimmune diseases, formulating tailored treatment regimes aligned with each patient's unique health needs.

Dr Coombes completed her undergraduate medical education with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) alongside a Bachelor of Science (BSc) with Honours, qualifying in 1987. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), demonstrating her commitment to clinical standards, ongoing professional development, and high-quality patient care within the field of Rheumatology.
