My husband was taken to Guildford hospital in Jan 2026 after falling from a roof. Dr Chang met us in a&e, this was the first time we met him and he carefully explained the severity of my husbands severe Pilon break and the damage to his ankle. After my husband was admitted I left for the evening. The next day Dr Chang came to the ward to meet with myself and husband for the second time, this time he discussed the plan, firstly fitting an external frame to my husbands foot to stabilise it before the next surgery. Dr Chang has been fantastic, at times when I could not be present for the 4 weeks that my husband was in hospital, he scheduled face time calls with my husband and I, so that I was included in discussion and options that were available. Dr Chang was approachable and listened to my concerns and explained everything in detail, including the risks. He gave my husband time to weigh up the options and explained all options that included an option of fusing or rebuilding the ankle, both of which were fully explained including the risks for both. Dr Chang has honestly been amazing in this ongoing journey, ensuring that when my husband requested a check up 8 months later as he was experiencing pain, Dr Chang ensured that he saw my husband himself, continuing to offer support on this journey. During this appointment an x ray was taken and explained in detail, as well and looking back at the before and after images. I come in with a severe broken ankle And Dr Chan Talked me through every step that needed to happen and made sure that myself and my wife fully Understood What was to come It wasn't just explained once It was over and over again And advised The two ways I could have this operation And he went and got Advice From other consultants To help me walk again.
