Dr Gareth Chan

Dr Gareth Chan is a highly skilled Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in the comprehensive management of musculoskeletal conditions, with a particular focus on foot and ankle pathology and complex trauma. Reassuring and professional, he is dedicated to delivering patient-centred care that utilises the latest evidence-based techniques. Dr Chan is committed to helping patients regain their mobility and improve their quality of life, whether they are recovering from an acute injury or managing a long-term degenerative joint condition.

His clinical practice encompasses a wide range of advanced surgical and non-surgical interventions. Dr Chan has extensive expertise in complex fracture reconstruction, keyhole surgery, and minimally invasive techniques designed to promote faster recovery and optimal joint mobility. Among his specialised treatments are Open Reduction Internal Fixation (ORIF) using cutting-edge flexible fixation methods, total ankle arthroplasty, and subtalar joint arthrodesis. He also manages Achilles tendon ruptures, distal femur fractures, and hip fractures, ensuring that each patient receives a tailored treatment plan suited to their individual needs.

Dr Chan qualified in 2014 from University College London, where he also completed an intercalated degree in musculoskeletal sciences. He subsequently undertook his academic foundation and core surgical training, followed by higher specialty training on a prestigious regional rotation. He holds a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS in Trauma and Orthopaedics) and is a Member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MFSTEd). Alongside his clinical work, Dr Chan is an active educator and researcher, serving as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer and publishing widely on orthopaedic outcomes and healthcare sustainability.
