About me

I am a consultant colorectal and general surgeon in Cardiff offering private hernia surgery, colonoscopy, and bowel cancer treatment. I work as a private colorectal surgeon in Cardiff, at Spire Cardiff Hospital, and the University Hospital of Wales in my NHS practice. I treat patients from Cardiff, Newport, South Wales, Bristol, and the South-West of England.

I specialise as a colorectal consultant surgeon in the management of hernias, bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, emergency surgery and complex abdominal surgery.

I perform minimally invasive (keyhole) and robotic colorectal surgery. I also undertake diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy including colonoscopy and gastroscopy.

Experience

I graduated from Cardiff University in 2010 and completed surgical training across Wales, the West Midlands, and Manchester, with additional trauma surgery experience in South Africa.

My subspecialty training includes:

• Salford Royal Hospital – complex abdominal wall and intestinal failure surgery
• Colorectal fellowship at the University of Western Ontario, Canada – high volume leading tertiary colorectal centre for South West Ontario.

I provide open, laparoscopic, and robotic colorectal surgery. I undertake diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy and endoscopy.

Research and Teaching

I hold an MD for research into colorectal cancer spread within the abdomen and have published in peer-reviewed journals. I present regularly at national and international meetings.

I am an Honorary Lecturer at Cardiff University, and I also serve as the Royal College of Surgeons of England College Tutor, with responsibility for overseeing and supporting surgical training.
