Dr Baig is an academic consultant neurologist with a special interest in the use of botulinum toxin to treat movement disorders, such as dystonia. He has an NHS practice at St. George’s University NHS Foundation Trust where he sees a broad range of patients he treats with botulinum toxin, using unguided and guided injections. He has published over 40 peer reviewed research publications and book chapters on the topic of movement disorders.
Examples of conditions treated include many forms of dystonia, spasm and tremor:
Blepharospasm, ocular myokymia, eye spasms, eyelid opening apraxia, Meige syndrome, hemifacial spasm, facial palsy with spasm and/or synkinesis, facial tics, oromandibular dystonia, jaw tremor, cervical dystonia, bent neck in parkinsonian disorders, tic disorders (including face, neck and upper limb), upper limb tremors (action tremors, dystonic tremors, essential tremor), focal task specific dystonias (including writer's cramp, musician dystonia, sports yips), focal dystonias in the upper and lower limb.

He started his neurology training on the Basic Neuroscience Training program in Oxford before developing his interest in movement disorders training in centres across the UK, including specialist training in the East Midlands supplemented by clinical and research fellowships in Oxford, London and Bristol. To complement his clinical work, he researches novel methods of monitoring and treating movement disorders as an honorary Senior Lecturer at St. George’s University of London, publishing over 50 peer reviewed scientific papers and book chapters.
