Qualifications
I graduated in Medicine from Edinburgh University Medical School in 1997 before general medical training in Wessex. Specialist training in Cardiology and in the subspecialty I practice of heart rhythm care was in Newcastle upon Tyne. I was then appointed to the post of Consultant Cardiologist at Freeman Hospital in 2009.
My practice encompasses catheter ablation treatment for a wide variety of heart rhythm problems including Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT), atrial fibrillation (AF) and flutter as well as ventricular tachycardia. I am one of a handful of UK Cardiologists who has provided radiotherapy for patients with untreatable heart rhythm abnormalities.
I also manage patients with implantable electrical devices (pacemakers and implanted defibrillators), as well as having the experience to remove these devices if they develop problems.
In addition to my clinical work, I have, over the past 3 years, served as Clinical Lead for Cardiology at the Freeman Hospital site.
