Dr Ella Aidoo

Dr Ella Aidoo is a highly dedicated Consultant Paediatrician specialising in Paediatric Palliative Medicine. She is committed to providing compassionate, holistic care for infants, children, and young people facing life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. Dr Aidoo focuses on enhancing the quality of life for her young patients and supporting their families through complex medical journeys. Her clinical practice centres on managing difficult symptoms, coordinating complex care, and establishing comprehensive advanced care plans that prioritise the comfort and dignity of every child.

With a deep interest in supporting children with complex medical needs, Dr Aidoo has developed particular expertise in managing neurodisability, complex congenital cardiac disease, and gastrointestinal failure. She works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver tailored symptom control and end-of-life care, ensuring that medical interventions are safe, sensible, and aligned with the family's wishes. In addition to her clinical work, she is passionate about medical education and has been instrumental in establishing innovative palliative care simulation training to help healthcare professionals communicate more effectively and confidently with families.

Dr Aidoo qualified with her undergraduate medical degree (MBChB) from the University of Leeds in 2005. She subsequently relocated to London to complete her specialist training in children's medicine, sub-specialising in paediatric palliative medicine at a renowned tertiary children's hospital. Her advanced qualifications include Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH), obtained in 2012, a Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare and Biomedical Education from St George's, University of London, in 2013, and a Diploma of Palliative Medicine from Cardiff University in 2016. Dr Aidoo is an active member of the medical community, serving as an Assessment Advisor on the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health sub-speciality committee, an External Examiner for Cardiff University, and the Deputy Editor for a national paediatric palliative medicine formulary.
