Prof. Eirini Skiadaresi

Professor Skiadaresi is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon serving the Hywel Dda University Health Board, with responsibilities at Prince Philip Hospital, Glangwili Hospital, and Amman Valley Hospital. She also holds the position of Honorary Professor at Swansea Medical School. Professor Skiadaresi specialises in cataract surgery and performs procedures at Werndale Hospital and HMT Sancta Maria Hospital.

She completed her medical and surgical training at the University of Trieste in Italy, where she graduated with honours. She then completed a residency in Ophthalmology and Ophthalmic Surgery with honours. Professor Skiadaresi's commitment to excellence led her to pursue advanced training, including fellowships at renowned institutions such as Moorfields Eye Hospital and Bristol Eye Hospital.

In her practice, Professor Skiadaresi addresses a wide range of ophthalmic conditions, with a particular focus on retinal and inflammatory eye disorders. She is a highly skilled cataract surgeon, capable of managing routine to complex cases. Furthermore, she plays an essential role as a trainer, sharing her expertise to fellow ophthalmologists within the NHS.

Professor Skiadaresi is deeply passionate about teaching and research, recognising their pivotal roles in enhancing patient care. She takes an active role in educating students and various healthcare professionals, including optometrists and nurses.

Professor Skiadaresi earned a Master's degree in Healthcare Management from Swansea University. Her ultimate goal is to elevate the quality of eye care and standards in Ophthalmology throughout Wales.
