Mr Edward Gee

Mr. Edward Gee is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in conditions of the foot and ankle, including:

• Sports injuries of the foot and ankle, including ligament and tendon injuries
• Cartilage injury and osteochondral lesions of the ankle
• Ligament repair, reconstruction and synthetic grafting
• Achilles rupture
• Bunion correction - Including minimally invasive surgery
• Painful toes - hammer toes, claw toes, plantar plate tears
• Plantar fasciitis
• Major and minor deformity correction such as flat foot and high arches
• Arthritis of the foot and ankle including ankle replacement
• Minimally invasive surgery
• Ankle arthroscopy (keyhole)
• Fractures of the foot and ankle

Mr Gee graduated from Medical school in 2008, completed his Orthopaedic Higher Surgical training in 2018 and was accepted onto the specialist register as a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics. Mr Gee travelled to Melbourne, Australia, to complete a further training fellowship with highly regarded foot and ankle specialists at the renowned Melbourne Orthopaedic Group. He achieved travelling fellowship awards from the British Orthopaedic Association and the gold award from the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. This additional specialist training increased his specialist surgical repertoire and ability, enabling him to provide a wider range of cutting edge techniques, tailored to his patients. He utilises minimally invasive and keyhole technqiues where possible and trains other surgeons in these methods.

He was appointed as a Consultant Foot and Ankle Surgeon at Salford Royal NHS Hospital, the "major trauma centre" for the Manchester region in 2019, where he treats some of the most complex and seriously injured patients.

Mr Gee has a specialist interest in treating elite atheletes, including premier, national and international level players across multiple sports. He specialises in ligament, tendon and cartilage reconstruction and joint preservation. He attends multiple national and international conferences to ensure his patients receive the most cutting edge, evidence based techniques. He works alongside club doctors and physios to ensure seamless treatment, the best results and rapid return to play.

He is a keen eductor of peers and junior surgeons, winning Orthopaedic Trainer of the Year twice. He teaches on multiple courses, teaching cutting edge methods and presenting his own techniques, work and surgical results in his field.
