About Dr Vinod Kumar Audimoolam

Dr Vinod Kumar Audimoolam is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist who provides private consultations for a wide range of upper and lower gastrointestinal and hepatological conditions. He assesses and manages both cancerous and non-cancerous disorders, including swallowing difficulties, acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, coeliac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulosis, inflammatory bowel disease, and conditions affecting the liver, gall bladder and bile ducts.

He completed his basic medical training and was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), Edinburgh in 2003. He then undertook comprehensive specialist training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in London and has been on the specialist register since 2013. During his training, he was actively involved in research at the Institute of Liver Studies, King’s College Hospital, London, one of the largest liver transplant centres in the UK. His research focused on acute liver failure and viral hepatitis, and he has published in peer-reviewed journals. He also completed a research dissertation and was awarded a Master’s Degree in Hepatology from King’s College London.

Following specialist accreditation, Dr Audimoolam pursued further super-specialty training in hepato-pancreaticobiliary (HPB) medicine and completed a two-year fellowship in endoscopy at King’s College Hospital. Since 2015, he has been a substantive Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Worthing Hospital, where he established a comprehensive HPB service for both cancer and non-cancer work, serving as Upper Gastrointestinal and Hepato-pancreaticobiliary cancer lead.

He has extensive expertise in both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. His practice includes gastroscopy and colonoscopy, with advanced procedures such as oesophageal and colonic dilatation and stenting, polypectomy, and the management of acute gastrointestinal bleeding. He has a particular interest in HPB endoscopy and performs Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) for a range of benign and malignant conditions, including bile duct stones, cysts and strictures. He also undertakes Fibroscan assessment and interventional procedures such as fine needle aspiration biopsy.

Dr Audimoolam is committed to a patient-focused approach, ensuring that individuals are fully involved in decision-making and receive personalised, evidence-based care. His clinical interests include interventional endoscopy and the early detection and management of acute and chronic diseases affecting the liver, oesophagus, stomach and bowel. He is a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology and the Royal College of Physicians.
