About Dr Tamara Basarab
Dr Tamara Basarab, Consultant Dermatologist, works within the private sector in London, and has clinics at Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon and Spire St Anthony's Hospital in Sutton. She has been working in the field of dermatology for over 31 years and has a wealth of experience in handling dermatological issues in both adults and children. These including conditions such as acne, moles, skin cancer screening, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, and skin rashes amongst many others.
Dr Basarab graduated from Guy's Medical School in 1990, before going on to do her specialist training in dermatology, working at several institutions in London. The majority of her training was at the highly prestigious St John's Institute of Dermatology, where she gained invaluable experience and knowledge working for some of the best dermatologists in the UK. She was appointed as a Consultant Dermatologist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in 1999 where she lead the skin allergy clinic, and looked after inpatients and saw patients with urgent dermatological issues. Her consultant role also involved working at Queen Mary's Hospital in Roehampton, where she ran busy general dermatology clinics and later worked in the skin cancer screening clinics set up there. Dr Basarab was also a member of the joint St George's and Queen Mary's Hospital skin cancer multidisciplinary team.
Dr Basarab has a number of publications in peer reviewed journals, has contributed to book chapters and presented at national dermatology meetings.

First of all very good at her job of detecting even the smallest of skin cancers. Second, very clear in explaining her clinical reference points for follow-up treatment. Finally, follows up diligently even when patient is already under the care of a surgeon.
My sister being a nuclear physiatrist had strongly recommended seeing Dr Basarab. Having visited Dr Basarab, she was immensely compassionate, totally professional and top in her field. Dr Basarab is the only specialist I would see going forward.
A very kind and empathetic approach with studied advice and clear, concise explanations given.
Dr Basarab was so brilliant with my five year old daughter, explaining everything to her as well as to me, in a manner that included her appropriately. This immediately put her at ease and made all the appointments easier and my daughter was excited for the next time she saw Dr Basarab! The treatment itself was comprehensive, adjusted as necessary and resolved a long standing issue.
Dr Tamara Basarab was extremely patient and explained very clearly the diagnosis of my daughter. She put us both at ease and I would highly recommend using her.
It was my second visit to Dr Basarab and once again I cannot rate her highly enough. Her response to my initial inquiry was extremely prompt and in the session itself her thoroughness, expertise and bedside manner was all of the highest level. Her follow in making sure that I had the most appropriate next level of medical care was also exemplary. I also found it very comforting that if I had any subsequent questions regarding my condition she gave me great confidence that she would be available to answer those.
Dr Basarab is kind, friendly, helpful. She takes time and asks good questions to arrive at her diagnosis and explains her reasons really well. Highly recommended!
